Last week in my 20's!

5 days to go till my birthday!!!! Stressing a bit about the weather as there is (another) cold front due!! Seems like the worst will be on Friday... but hoping it comes sooner so that it will be over sooner!!! Food is all organised now at least... and decor. Eeeekkkkkk!!!!

Work has been BUSY. Didn't work late today luckily but feel like the whole of Aug has been "month-end" and there has been no "quiet" period... and next week is actual month-end all over again!!! Barely getting time for gym!! Had discus training again today, went pretty well.

Thursday is lung check-up again, and luckily one of my CF friends from PE, Gail, is scheduled to see Dr same day so that's great! Hopefully that goes well.

Past weekend was very good... Nice evening on Friday night meeting some new people! Lovely lunch on Sat with Aviva, Food shopping for party, Sunday lunch with parents, gym, gardening...... might explain why I was SOOOO tired on Monday morning!

Below 2 random pics I took this week... driving to work.... and my one yellow Clivia plant in bloom (rest are all orange).

P.S. excuse the ADHD-ness of this post.... it's what my life feels like right now!

Food Poisoning and Exercising

So yesterday I ate left-over food from Sunday that had gone off... it lead to a) discovering my Nissen Funduplication Op 2 years ago for reflux was very successful - I CAN NOT vomit!!! b) ending up in Casualty on a drip. It really is a horrible horrible feeling when your body is trying to rid itself of food you ate but it cannot. All the muscles in my upper body hurts today!!! Luckily I wasn't admitted and felt much better after some IV pain and nausea meds I could go home. Stayed home from work today and rested.

I'm also seriously preparing for the National Games now and have upped my weights at the gym and started my coaching! Party planning also going well... looking forward to it. But lots that needs to happen before then.

Biker's Day for Organ Donation

The Netcare Joburg Transplant Team are organising an amazing event that promises to be loads of fun! PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD TO ALL BIKERS!!!!

Vote for Fawn - Big Blog Exchange

Dear blog-readers.... please vote for my fellow blogger and CF/lung tx friend Fawn's blog HERE... it's an international blog exchange program which will see her switching lives with a blogger from elsewhere in the world for a short period of time... what an awesome experience! (I have too much stuff going on in my life already at the moment so not interested in entering myself!) DO IT!!!!

Awesome weekend and Carli turns 30 today!

Had an awesome and busy weekend! But first, one of my best friends in the world Carli turns 30 today... HAPPY HAPPY Carli!!! Will be seeing her in 2 week time when she comes all the way to Joburg for MY 30th. So excited for that weekend!

Back to my weekend.... on Sat we had lunch with Fawn and some of her friends. It was GREAT and they are such cool people. Afterwards we went to my friend Brendan's house for a braai. Today we had my parents and Chrislie and Pierre over for lunch, after which Chrislie and I had a very impromptu and productive shopping trip!

Tomorrow I have my first training session with a coach from the university for shot put and discus that I will be doing at Nationals in Oct. Eeeekkkk am nervous!!!! Less than 2 months to go to the event and time is running away from me!!!!

Also saw this great endorsement for Organ Donation from Katherine Heigl, which makes me very happy! Have a good week!!!

ChariTea and Wedding anniversary

It's been a busy week once again, the highlights of which was our 4 year wedding anniversary and Fawn's Charitea at which I spoke at today (which was a huge success). For our anniversary we had an amazing dinner at Pigalle in Melrose Arch, and received the most stunning flowers and champagne from Chris's mom. Some pics below...

August!!!!

It's the crazy happy month of August!! Let's see... Wedding Anniversary on the 7th, speaking at Fawn's Charitea on the 9th, spring starts, it's Organ Donation awareness month AND my last month of being a 20-something year old!!! So a very exciting month!!

A year ago (well on the 12th of Aug) I started photopheresis. A pretty scary time. Today I'm pretty proud to say that I completed 24 sessions of it without any catheters or ports and such permanent lines (well done veins!!!), and didn't stop working, even though the vibe that I got from facebook support groups is that working while having this is nearly impossible as it makes you sooo tired and immune supressed etc. So that's great.

Had a very medical week... Had gynae check-up that went very well... no abnormal cells (in 2009-2011 I had about 3 cauterisation and other procedures on my cervix due to abnormal cells that could become cancerous) I have known post transplant people who have died from cancer so it was a worry. However all has been good since then and last 2 pap smears were NORMAL. Dr is "chuffed". So yay!

The bone density also went well. My previous one was about 8 or 9 years ago, in PE, so they couldn't compare the results accurately, but from what I can remember it has improved as my Dr thought it would. This is due to exercise and being much more active than all those years ago and being on less steroids since transplant than I used to be on pre-transplant. I have also been on meds for bone density before but at the moment all I have been prescribed are Calcium and Vit D, plus exercise. So that's also great news.

Dentist had to replace 2 old fillings. Was the least "fun" medical visit. Still feels weird now when I bite down and might have to go back to have something adjusted if it doesn't get better. Annoying but as far as medical problems go not a biggie.

Tomorrow I'm going to the quaterly transplant network meeting, and gym. Sunday having nice lunch with special friends, Not much else planned.

Have a good weekend!!!
