Rest of the week

This week felt like it went by really quickly with us only coming back on Wednesday and being away for most of it. Yesterday I had to do my first big grocery shop since being discharged. Decided to use the portable O2 as pushing around a heavy trolley and carrying heavy bags feels like "exercise" for me. So put my self consciousness in my pocket and just did it. The shopping went well, didn't get short of breath. Have to get used to people staring, felt like when I wore oxygen many years ago or when I wore the mask with newly transplanted lungs. You just learn to look past it.

I also finished my Rare Diseases colouring in picture. Hope I win :-) Picture ended up being such a mess after spilling Taziject all over it in hosp and then water on Wednesday. Tried to fix what I could.... meh.

Today I went to pharmacy and for bloods in preparation for Monday's lung check-up. Also had 6-monthly gynae check-up (Was scheduled for exactly a month ago but that obviously never happened.). Hoping all will be fine.... for a change, as the last two visits ended up in me having surgery and now there is not enough cervix left on to operate.

Feeling a lot more energetic than I did on Wednesday or even yesterday, so that's awesome... hopefully energy is returning for good. Wednesday also marked a year since my grandad passed away. We all miss him :-(

Have a good weekend!

Sun City break

Our two nights at Sun City was REALLY good!!! The hotel was awesome, really fancy, and the view, gardens and pools amazing. Was such a treat. We went on a game drive (see separate post with photo's), where we saw A LOT of rhino's!!! I haven't seen many of those before in real life, so it was very cool. The one even had a baby! Tried to track a lion that was seen by other guides earlier in the afternoon, but we never found it... Oh well, the elephants and rhino's made up for it. And LOTS of zebra.

On Tuesday we went to Valley of the Waves, which is a fake beach with fake waves basically! We enjoyed it though, wouldn't want to be there when it's busy, I'm sure it gets insane!!! Went into the water, which was nice, although hard to breathe. The walk back out of the water over the "sand" also killed my lungs :-( So lots of walking and being out of breath but a fun day. Chilled by the hotel pool for the rest of the day. We went for supper at the hotel next door followed by hot chocolate and cake back at our hotel.

This was the first trip with the oxygen concentrator, the portable O2 and the e-flow. There weren't any issues, except that the O2 concentrator really heated up the room and the aircon couldn't keep up! And the heat was already pretty extreme! It was also noisier that we're used to, as at home we put the O2 concentrator in the spare bedroom. The altitude was 1,040m above sea level, so a lot lower than Joburg, which is 1,753m. Breathing was a bit easier. Been very tired and finding breathing hard today though, not sure if it's due to all the activity in the last two days or the change in altitude again, but just sat colouring in with O2 while watching the Budget Speech and Friends the whole afternoon.

Below pic is one that Chris took of me last night while nebbing.
